It’s October 31st, aka the end of Blogtober and I made it! 31 posts in 31 days! I have to admit, at the beginning of the month I did wonder if I’d make it because writing a new blog post for every day is certainly a challenge. However, it is one that I am proud to have accepted and now to have completed. So, what did I learn from it?
It creates more content
This is an obvious one, but as I have now finished Blogtober I have 31 new posts on my blog. A few of them even look at what I have learnt from blogging so far and hopefully I can carry on adding to this knowledge. I always hear that blogging is all about quality over quantity, so I hope to have kept up the quality in my posts, even though I have written more of them.
Take it one step at a time
Thirty-one posts in 31 days is a scary thought – it was for me anyway. I tried not to think of it as 31 posts but instead I thought of each post one at a time and tried to not let the overall task overwhelm me. To write 31 posts, you have to start by writing one. I decided to split it down into weeks, with me writing a few posts at a weekend and then writing a couple of posts in the week.

It’s an opportunity to network
I feel that over the past month I have engaged more with my fellow bloggers then I have before, and I feel as though I have been able to learn more about the blogging world. Every day I was on social media promoting my blog posts, and with this came a lot more opportunities to talk to others. I even found out about #Hallotober which is a Halloween-themed opportunity to answer questions about the topic and tag other people to do the same. I was tagged by another blogger so I took part. By doing so, I think it also gave my blog readers a chance to get to know me a bit more by what I said in my answers.
You learn a lot
Through networking and engaging more with followers, people who are kind enough to comment on posts, and through social media, I feel as though I have learnt a lot more about blogging and all of the related areas this month. Being on social media more has allowed me to have the opportunity to read more posts from fellow bloggers and learn more about their different blog topics. I think constantly having a presence online, with new content being uploaded every day, is also a good way of showing others what your blog is about because you are constantly updating it.
You can become more focused
Over the past month I have definitely been more focused on my blog because I have needed to be. Promoting a new blog post every day takes up time and has led me to think about my aim with what I am doing with it in the long-term. Watch this space!
I’ve really enjoyed taking part in Blogtober, but I’m also glad that’s over and I can go back to posting once a week. I’ve enjoyed the challenge, but posting every day is definitely something I can’t carry on doing. I think it is true what they say – it’s quality over quantity every time.
Have you taken part in Blogtober? Let me know what your thoughts on it were in the comments below.
I admire people who can put out something ever day like this. My writing process is slow and plodding. If I’m lucky, I get one out a week, but sometimes it takes longer. But hey, looks like I’m spending November in another lockdown/confinement here France, so I have all the time in the world to sit down and do some writing. So, on that note….
Thanks Paul. I’ve found it difficult and will go back to once a week now. Good luck with the writing 🙂
This is a really refreshing post to read! Congrats on doing Blogtober, I can imagine that’s a lot of work x

Thanks Della. It was definitely a challenge and I’m glad I was able to do it.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m still fairly new to blogging and I had seen Blogtober on Twitter but had no clue what it was. Now that I know, I think it’s incredible that you were able to write a post everyday. I’m such a slow writer when it comes to my posts that I couldn’t imagine doing this. But that would be a great challenge to aim for. Congratulations on completing it and challenging yourself.
Thanks Tammy. I only found out what it was the day before it started
Congratulations! I am just getting ready to post my big final post today which will mark the end of Blogtober for me as well. It was definitely a push to knock out that much content – especially without allowing the standard of your content to drop. Keyword research, topical research, writing, editing, etc. It adds up!
Thank you. Yes it’s definitely a challenge. Congrats for you achieving it as well
Congrats on completing Blogtober! That’s a huge commitment 🙂
Thanks Jenny
Congratulations, Sarah, that’s a great achievement. As somebody that only manages around one post per month I am truly in awe of those of you that accomplish this feat. I’m glad that you were able to learn from the process too and thank you for sharing those thoughts with us. I guess the big question is … would you do it again?
Thanks Richie. I probably wouldn’t do it again but you never know!
Congrats on completed Blogtober! That’s a lot of hard work for sure! I didn’t participate this year, maybe next year haha
Thank you. Yes it’s hard work but I’m glad I did it.
Well done on completing Blogtober, It is a huge ask and one I am not sure I could manage if I am honest. I enjoyed a lot of your posts. Enjoy the break now.
Are you doing Blogmas?
Thank you Claire. No I don’t think I’ll be doing Blogmas but I’ll be writing a Christmas related post or two.
I love blogtober as a consumer of blogs but I don’t think I could ever commit to putting a post out every single day for 31 days, it’s a lot of work! Well done you for doing it, I loved your content each day!

Thanks Rosie, that’s great to hear. Yes, it was definitely a challenge!
Wow thats an achievement. Congratulations. Thank you so much for sharing such nice tips on this post. I am glad I read.
Thank you
I’ve never heard of Blogtober before but great job on doing it! It seems like a really daunting challenge to take on but I’m glad you got through it and learnt a lot.
Thanks Corinne. Yes it was quite daunting but I’m glad I got to the end.
This is a great accomplishment! As Brian Tracy says “you have to continue routine for 21 days and it becomes a habit”. So, will you be able to stop writing so often? 😉
Thank you. Haha yes I’ve managed to stop. I have a new post coming out on Saturday though.
